Volunteer with Flower City Habitat
We believe the best volunteer opportunities are ones where you love the people you work with, enjoy the work that you do, and get to see direct positive impact from your work. Ask anyone who has been to a Habitat home dedication, and you’ll have no doubt of the transformational positive impact of our work together.
Whether you want to build the houses, work with the families, plan events, or help with the MANY other volunteer opportunities we have, we invite you to be part of a kind, dedicated, and welcoming volunteer community that is actively building strength, stability, and self-reliance in Rochester.
We have a variety of one-time and regular opportunities for individuals and groups. Click on any of the following volunteer categories for more information and steps to get started:
§ Committees: Our committee members meet on a regular basis and are committed to helping us set and achieve goals that benefit our community. Each committee has a key focus such as: Family Selection, Family Support, Youth, Construction, Development, and more.
§ Constituent Groups: We have several high school, college, professional, faith, and social groups that get together to support our mission. Each group organizes in their own way, so you can check out what other groups are doing, or work with us to start a new one!
§ Construction: We have individual and group building opportunities all year round! You can come out for a day or two (no experience needed), or work with us regularly to become one of our highly skilled Hammer & Saw Volunteers!
§ Office: Not only are office volunteers the first friendly face and voice when you call or stop in our office, they are also crucial to all kinds of behind the scenes work that keeps the entire organization moving forward.
§ ReStore: Our socially conscious home improvement store raises money to build affordable homes in Rochester and keeps construction waste out of local landfills! Volunteers make this possible by assisting with donation pick-ups, warehouse, and friendly customer service.
§ Special Events: From fundraisers to the dedication of a new home, volunteers help make our events as fun, engaging, and inspiring as they can be.
§ Special Projects: We do more than just build houses; we also support our families through school supply drives, housewarming gifts, holiday assistance, neighborhood projects and more.
Many of our volunteer opportunities are available on our VolunteerUp Calendar. Take a look and feel free to sign-up for any volunteer shifts that you are interested in. If you don't see something that works for you, check the different volunteer opportunities listed above or contact our Volunteer Coordinator (contact info at bottom of this page).
