It's MAGIK!
What is MAGIK?
MAGIK is a gifts in-kind program that supports Flower City Habitat's drive to eliminate poverty housing in Rochester. Your contribution of building materials, contractor services, tools, or business services helps us construct decent affordable homes and revitalize some of Rochester's most distressed neighborhoods.
Building Materials and Tools
Each year, we need enough materials, tools, and services to build 8 to 12 houses -- everything from foundation footers to roofing shingles. Your contribution helps keep our homes affordable to the hardworking families who build 500 hours of "sweat equity" and make monthly payments on interest-free mortgages held by Habitat.
Contractors
Your professional skills accelerate our building schedule, maintain high quality, and keep our work sites safe. As little as four hours of your time could make a huge difference in house completion and impact a family whose life you will touch.
Business Services
Habitat's internal operations are much like those of any other business. By becoming our designated supplier for copy/print, cellular phones, legal work, etc., you can help us reduce our costs and build more houses ...while you enjoy the same benefits as our other MAGIK contributors.
How will you benefit?
Most MAGIK contributors get involved as a way to demonstrate their commitment to the community. They become partners in high-value projects such as the JOSANA neighborhood redevelopment and enjoy a strong link with the extraordinary Habitat reputation and brand.
In addition, MAGIK contributors are licensed to use a distinctive Habitat supplier logo in their advertising and signage. MAGIK contributors are listed on the "MAGIK Honor Roll" in the Spotlight on Supporters of our website. They are also featured in our public events, signage, and publications. Our newsletter alone reaches thousands of readers.
MAGIK donors are eligible for tax benefits for both donated materials and time.
Services and supplies needed
Contributed supplies and services must fit Habitat's current house design and meet code, quality, and appearance standards. Click here for our complete list of material.
Other surplus and like-new materials may be donated to the Habitat ReStore, where the proceeds from their sale help fund the construction new Habitat homes.
Quantities needed
We build 8 to 12 houses per year. Our most generous donors support Habitat for a full building season or a neighborhood project. Contributions for one or more homes are welcome; smaller quantities may be donated to the Habitat ReStore. Click here to learn more about the ReStore.
Levels of Participation
There are two levels of participation in the MAGIK program:
- Your company can earn Habitat's Preferred Supplier designation by donating materials or professional services valued at a minimum of $2,500.
- Your company can earn Habitat's Contributor designation by donating materials or professional services valued at a minimum of $500.
