Working with forms:
These are not the paper kind, but heavy wood and metal forms now used to create our poured house foundations. Marshall Cook of North Forest Office Providers assisted with disassembly of forms at 356 Campbell St.
Future homeowner Valerie Mack and her two daughters helped with framing at 349 Orange St. Habitat volunteers look forward to meeting and working alongside homeowners as they work to perform 450 hours of "sweat equity" required by our homeownership program.

Leslie Brown of Canfield & Tack (left) works with Ann Kowal of Special Care Systems to move boards onto the floor deck of 349 Orange St. during framing work.
(Left to right) Renee Tchetter of Insero and Company, homeowner Tanasha Greene and Debora McLean of Nixon Peabody prepare scaffolding.
Bryan Warren of K&S Construction (left) and Paul Mahoney of Envoy Environmental, paint window frames at 314 Campbell St. We don't typically paint vinyl siding but the nature of a LEED-certified house requires special exterior paint.
Heather Rogers of Davidson Fink and Sal Casiano of HSBC help create the first floor deck at 349 Orange St.
Volunteers worked on footings and forms for a new foundation at 366 Campbell St. Our Leaders Build Luncheon on September 16th will be held in the church lot adjacent to this site!
9th Annual Leaders Build Defies Rain
One hundred Rochester area business owners, company presidents and CEOs left their offices behind to join Flower city Habitat for Humanity in making an impact on the city's JOSANA neighborhood for a week-long event called Leaders Build.
Our executive volunteers gave up a full or half day to get hands-on experience building homes alongside Habitat homeowners and learn how we are working to revitalize one of the city's most challenged neighborhoods near the soccer stadium.
These premier volunteers assisted with foundation forms and footings, creating a first floor deck and wall framing, and primed and painted walls at four different locations on Campbell and Orange Street. Amazingly, despite a weather forecast that threatened showers and thunderstorms each day from July 20-24, our work was never deterred!
Our executive volunteers learned first-hand how Habitat is addressing the challenges faced by the JOSANA neighborhood which consists of 24 blocks, each one of which is blighted and marked by vacant, boarded-up, deteriorating houses.
These business leaders will have the opportunity to return to JOSANA on September 16th to see the results of their labor, when we hold our 5th annual Leaders Build Luncheon under a tent right in the same neighborhood.
We thank our 2009 Leaders Build volunteers for their participation and their interest in Habitat's work to build houses and hope:
