Leaders Build

Since 2001, Flower City Habitat for Humanity has conducted Leaders Build to acquaint company presidents, CEO's and local business owners with our efforts to revitalize inner city neighborhoods and make home-ownership a reality for qualified low-income families.
In 2009, this event will be conducted the week of July 20 - 24. Corporate volunteers will place foundation forms, frame walls, hang drywall and paint at several building sites in the heart of Rochester's JOSANA neighborhood.

In July of 2007, one of our Leaders Build groups raised the first wall at 732 Bay St.

There's plenty of hard work of course -- and more than a little sweating on a hot summer day -- but much is learned when these bosses become builders. Each year, more than 100 business leaders trade a busy work day for a chance to experience the joy of helping to build a decent new home in partnership with a deserving low-income family.

As a follow-up to Leaders Build, we hold a Leaders Build Luncheon each fall. This year it takes place on Wednesday, September 16th at 12:00 Noon under a tent at 69 Whitney St. (at Campbell St.) in the heart of the JOSANA neighborhood, so our Leaders Build participants may see the results of the work they performed in July! Rochester Mayor Robert Duffy will be our keynote speaker.
