Harley School Community Backs Habitat Project

Often, several schools work together to raise money and build a home ...but Rochester's Harley School is sponsoring a house all by itself! This season, many Harley students and families expressed the holiday spirit by contributing to the largest fundraising project in the history of the school.

Home Sweet Historic Home

Building a Habitat house in a historic neighborhood poses a special challenge. Our 2006 Women Build project on Susan B. Anthony Square uses a new design provided by the Institute of Classical Architecture and Classical America and our progress is being watched as a national prototype.

Thrivent Builds Partners with FCHH

Thrivent Financial for Lutherans is working with Habitat for Humanity affiliates nationwide to build 500 Habitat homes in four years. The Thrivent-sponsored home at 116 Fulton Avenue has been framed, and the Thrivent Builds' Mobile Tour visited Rochester in May.

Cornerstone Placed for "Chip's House"

Charles "Chip" Holt retired from Xerox in 1999 with plans to volunteer with Flower City Habitat. Sadly, he never got the chance. Now his widow and former co-workers are helping to build "Chip's House" at 182 Fulton Avenue, which will be home to for Paula Hargrove and her family.

Major Renovation of Bay Street Home Completed

A single mother with eight children needed a very special home, and Flower City Habitat delivered with the complex renovation of a big old home that was slated for demolition. After months of hard work, the dedication ceremony was a real celebration!
