Rebuilt Bay Street Home is Dedicated

The Bilbo family joined Flower City Habitat for Humanity to celebrate completion of a home that was rebuilt a year after a fatal fire at the same location. The family plans to begin their new life there as the new year begins.

Turn Your Community Pride Into Community Action

Rochester's new Frederick Douglass-Susan B. Anthony Bridge is a beautiful piece of functional art. Its creator, Erdman Anthony, has produced a 2008 calendar of stunning black and white photos of the bridge entitled Celebrating Structural Art, and proceeds from its sale will benefit Flower City Habitat for Humanity.

JOSANA Project Kick-Off Held

A large crowd of volunteers, house sponsors, neighborhood activists, city housing officials and neighbors gathered with FCHH staff for the official kick-off of a multi-year home building project in the Jay - Orchard Street area. The JOSANA neighborhood, long plagued by poverty, will see a multi-house, multi-year commitment of Habitat's energy.

Penfield Churches Dedicate Hoeltzer Street House

Volunteers representing eleven Penfield area congregations were present to dedicate the house at 52 Hoeltzer Street, now home to Evelyn Rodreguez and her family.

Monroe Tractor Rodeo Benefits Flower City Habitat

Monroe Tractor in Henrietta celebrated the 50th anniversary of Case Loader/Backhoe with a "tractor rodeo" -- a test of skills for heavy equipment operators -- and they invited Flower City Habitat to join the fun. The payoff included a great new partnership that will enhance our building program!

New Wall Panels Rise at Vistage-Sponsored House

Vistage International, the world's largest CEO membership organization, is sponsoring a new Habitat house. And Flower City Habitat is creating wall panels off-site to speed construction and reduce the impact of bad weather. Two important "firsts" for Habitat in Rochester!

Leaders Build 2007 Jump Starts Bay Street Home

During our seventh-annual Leaders Build, business leaders and future homeowners worked shoulder to shoulder in a building blitz that jump-started the construction of a new home for Kathy Bilbo, who lost three children when a fire destroyed her Habitat home.
