The household
  1. The household gross income (household members 18 years and over will be considered) must fall below 80% Area Median Income (AMI) based on the current year of H.U.D. Income Guidelines. (See below chart for income guidelines)
  2. The homeowner must be able to demonstrate they are current on property taxes, mortgage payments (if applicable), and homeowner’s insurance premiums and provide proof of such.
  3. The homeowner may be asked to share their story through in-person communications, area media (e.g., newspaper, radio, internet) and GRHFH publications (e.g., photos, videos, audio recordings) as part of their partnership with GRHFH. Note: not all projects will be publicized, and in extenuating circumstances when safety and privacy are a primary concern, GRHFH will work with the homeowner(s) to determine what is appropriate to be made public.
The property
  1. The home must be located within the GRHFH service area. (Monroe, Wayne or Ontario County, New York)
  2. The home must be owner-occupied, single-family house or mobile home, and the primary residence of the owner.
  3. The home needs repair to areas of concern for health and/ or safety needs including but not limited to weatherization, roofing, mobility assistance, heating, or overall stability.
The project
  1. Must feature improvements to health, safety and habitability.
  2. The scope of the project will be assessed by a GRHFH construction staff member in partnership with the homeowner.  Only need based requests will be reviewed and we cannot provide assistance for cosmetic work.
  3. Must prove the homeowner(s) is unable to physically and/or financially complete the work themselves.
  4. May require the homeowner(s) to sign an owner-occupancy commitment to remain in the home as their primary residence for a specific period of time following the project.
