House Sponsorship by Faith-Based Organizations
Flower City Habitat for Humanity builds about 10 homes per year. Full house sonsorship is $75,000 to build a one-story three or four bedroom home. Faith-based communities and coalitions of faith-based organizations sponsor homes by providing a combination of direct funding, in-kind donations of materials and services and volunteer labor.
Typically, groups (coalitions) of congregations join together to build a home in Rochester. While most of our coalitions are defined by locality, other coalitions define themselves in unique ways. Several active coalitions include:
Habitat Interfaith Partnership
First Presbyterian Church
Christ Episcopal Church
Rotary Club of Pittsford
Temple Sinai
St. Louis Church
Mt. Olivet Baptist Church
Islamic Center of Rochester
St. Paul's Lutheran Church
Penfield Churches
Faith Lutheran Church
Incarnation Episcopal
Penfield Baptist Church
Penfield Presbyterian
Penfield United Methodist Church
Rochester Christian Reformed Church-Webster
St. Joseph's Catholic Church
Webster Presbyterian Church
Greece Churches
Aldersgate United Methodist Church
Bethany Presbyterian
Concord Lutheran
Greece Baptist Church
Greece United Methodist Church
Hope Lutheran
Holy Cross Church
Messiah Lutheran Church
A given coalition usually builds a house every two or three years. There are numerous ways for faith-based youth groups to become involved with a Habitat project including fundraising, participation in ceremonies and making or gathering house warming gifts for their Habitat family.
We are always happy to make presentations about the work of Habitat to mission fairs, committees, and education programs. Contact us through tpaine@rochesterhabitat.org, or call Tiffany Paine at 585-546-1470, x315.
