What is sweat equity?
Sweat equity is a required part of our homebuyer program. In addition to having a need for better housing, and the ability to pay an affordable mortgage, Habitat homebuyers partner with us through sweat equity. Each homebuyer with Flower City Habitat contributes a minimum of 300 hours.
Sweat equity hours are attained through financial classes, home maintenance classes, construction (helping build their own home and/or their neighbor's, if physically able), ReStore, speaking at Habitat events, "Building With Books" (our children's reading program), and volunteering with other (pre-approved) community organizations.
We're grateful to provide affordable homeownership opportunities to Habitat homebuyers that truly help lift themselves, their family's, and their community.
