Committees

We have numerous committees that are part of the home-building process:

Family Selection Committee

Committee members review homeowner applications, follow up on job and landlord references, and conduct home visits. This committee recommends families to the board of directors for acceptance into the homeowner program.

Family Support Committee

Members provide support for families once they have been accepted into the program. They coordinate orientations and workshops, provide resources for budget and job skills counseling, and monitor mortgage delinquency.

Finance Committee

Oversees and monitors all financial and administrative aspects of the organization.

Corporate Advisory Council

Builds corporate support for Flower City Habitat through partnerships and membership programs.

Church Relations Committees

Currently re-organizing to support new and fledgling faith-based communities and guide them through their house sponsorship projects.

School/Youth Committee

This group works at involving schools and youth in Flower City Habitat for Humanity by providing a menu of appropriate volunteer opportunities. They develop age-appropriate materials for use in schools and create materials and provide support for each School House project.

Construction Committee

Oversees the construction program of Flower City Habitat. Develops and implements policies for acquisition of materials and services. Develops in-kind materials solicitation and recognition program. Oversees warehouse use and inventory. Responsible for on-site safety policies. Recruits volunteers for specialized construction tasks.

Materials and Gifts In-Kind Committee (MAGIK)

Members of this team encourage the suppliers of construction materials and services to donate goods and services. The participation of generous suppliers is critical to Habitat's goals of reducing the cost of construction and shortening the build cycle. In return for their support, MAGIK program participants are licensed to use a distinctive Habitat supplier logo in advertising and signage. A win-win relationship? ...that's MAGIK! ReStore Committee

Supports the ReStore staff in a number of ways and guides the development of the ReStore.
