Webster Middle School hosting basketball game to benefit Habitat

This Friday! Join us, Spry Middle School of Webster Central Schools, and Rochester Wheels Wheelchair Basketball for the Spirit Week Charity Basketball Game!

The game will be held at Schroeder HS gym beginning at 7:00 pm on this Friday, March 1. Schroeder's address is: 875 Ridge Rd, Webster, NY 14580 -- and the gym entrance is around the rear. Admission is a $5 donation at the door (or more, if people want!)

Donor Spotlight: Two new construction vehicles!

What an amazing gift and legacy!

Our deepest thanks to Pam & Jim Bradley for honoring Jim's parents (Carol & Ernie) with two new, fully equipped, construction vehicles that will be helping us build homeownership, communities, and hope for years to come!

Their heartfelt gift was made even more impactful by Dorschel Nissan and Image360 Rochester who gave us deep discounts - allowing us to add ladder racks, tools, and the vehicle branding to help us share our mission even further.

Be on the lookout for "The Carol" and "The Ernie" out on the builds sites!

Bonadio Group raises funds for Habitat in Rochester & Albany

The Bonadio Group recently raised $3,500 for Flower City Habitat for Humanity (Rochester) and another $3,500 for Habitat for Humanity Capital District (Albany)! The donations continue a tradition of giving back at the firm’s annual construction summit gathering held at Woodcliff Hotel and Spa in Fairport.

Kitchen cabinets being installed on Whitney Street (Thrivent & Harvest Home)

Flower City Habitat kitchen cabinets are built by our skilled "Hammer & Saw" volunteers! We have two weekly crews that build high quality cabinets for all of our current construction. The cabinets started going in on Whitney Street this week!

This home on Whitney Street is being made possible by the partnership of Thrivent Financial and the Harvest Home Coalition. We are working on the schedule for the final few weeks of construction and expect to be announcing a home dedication ceremony with the new homeowners soon!

“I just wanted to spend my break doing something that mattered and to help people, and it's also a little warmer here than up in Rochester right now, so that's pretty nice,” said Bailey Latourette, a Roberts Wesleyan College Student.

JOSANA Neighborhood School #17 seeing major reduction in suspensions

We are proud to have contributed over 90 Habitat homes within a half mile of Enrico Fermi School #17 - with more under construction right now.

Quality affordable housing is often a major key to family stability (and improved student performance), but we also know it takes a holistic approach to have a great neighborhood.

In the JOSANA Neighborhood, School 17 is the hub that brings it all together. In addition to working with us, they work with dozens of community partners to bring quality affordable housing, access to services like an on-campus dental clinic, and much much more.

Here's another story of progress in JOSANA, as the school has reduced suspension days from 3,000 to 217, while increasing attendance and grades.

ESL to provide financial education program for Flower City Habitat

“Financial education builds the foundation for any homeowner,” said Malik Evans, Financial Wellness Manager, ESL Federal Credit Union. “Through education, homeowners can gain control over managing their finances so they can build their dream home. And while these classes provide a vital starting point, it is up to all of us to never stop learning and understanding how our finances impact our lives.”
