​Bank of America and Habitat for Humanity are kicking off the sixth Global Build in 108 communities, including here in Rochester!

Yesterday, our local branches brought 24 volunteers and a generous $20,000 donation to support the construction of 105 Holworthy Street, one of four new homes being built at the intersection of Holworthy & Dakota Streets.

Habitat and Bank of America have partnered for more than 30 years, with nearly $80 million in funding invested from the bank's charitable foundation and 40,000 volunteer hours from employees annually, ranging from board service to home build initiatives and financial literacy training.

Locally, Kristina Dengler, VP, Rochester Market Manager serves on our Board of Directors, and more local volunteers will be out on Holworthy Street again this afternoon!

This year is the largest Bank of America #GlobalBuild to date with nearly 2,800 #BofAVolunteers across 10 countries!

2018 was a great year for our Leaders Build program. Join Flower City Habitat staff, Leaders Build Committee members, and other Rochester business and community leaders as we celebrate a successful year and start looking towards 2019!

Homebuyer Coach - Volunteer Position Description
 
Purpose:

• We are looking for dedicated, caring, and organized volunteer coaches to help our homebuyers successfully work their way through our homebuyer program.
• We believe in supporting our homebuyers through their journey of homeownership, and as a support coach, you play a large role in this. It is expected that the coach/homebuyer relationship will remain professional during the entire partnership.

 
Key Responsibilities:

• From the application process, to financial classes, savings plans, sweat-equity, house selection, and closing on an affordable mortgage and moving in; you'll be there with them at every step of this transformative process.
• Attend training sessions and view volunteer role as a partnership with Flower City Habitat staff and homebuyers.
• Adhere to confidentiality and professional boundaries.
• If either the partner family or coach decide the relationship is not a good fit, Flower City Habitat will re-pair the individuals, no questions asked.

 
Skills and Qualifications:

• Strong understanding of Habitat
• Solid understanding of financial literacy
• Delicate balance of ability to guide/support homebuyer and compassionately hold them accountable

Time Commitment:

• One meeting with homebuyer per month. 1 hour. (Required)
• Three meetings per year with Flower City Habitat on program updates. 1.5 hours. (Required)
• One volunteer day with homebuyer per year. 4-8 hours. (Suggested)
