Flower City Habitat for Humanity offers critical home repair and modification services for low and moderate income owner-occupied households to promote the creation and preservation of decent and safe housing. In addition, we ensure affordability through a formal application process and affordable payment plans.

Like our homebuyer program, our critical home repair program criteria includes establishing a need for repairs, willingness to partner with Habitat, and ability to make an affordable payment. In addition to reviewing the requested repair, our construction team conducts a full assessment of the home to determine any additional health and safety issues that can be remediated.

Veterans Housing Rehabilitation and Modification Pilot Program​ (​VHRMP)

  • Services available to rehabilitate and repair the primary residence of veterans who are low-income and living with disabilities.
  • Household income must fall between 30%-60% AMI per NYS HUD income guidelines. Please refer to income chart to the right.
  • Proof of total household income required at time of application. Includes paystubs, SSI, disability, etc.
  • Disability of a veteran can be documented by receiving a copy of the Veteran’s VA disability compensation award letter. If a veteran was not disabled at the time of retirement from service, a Social Security Disability letter will be accepted. The disability does not need to be service related.
  • The home must be owned by either the veteran or someone related to the veteran. Any individual related by blood or affinity whose close association with the eligible veteran is the equivalent of a family relationship.
  • A 5 year residency requirement, post- home modification will be required at time of approval.

Ramp Up: Mobility Ramp Installation Program

  • Services available to build or replace wheelchair/walk ramps for owner-occupied homes with the goal of safe accessibility, enabling people to stay in their homes and increase independence.
  • Household income must fall between 30%-80% AMI per NYS HUD income guidelines. Please refer to the income chart on the right.
  • Proof of total household income required at time of application.
  • All property taxes must be current.
  • Homeowner must provide proof of homeowners insurance that is paid and in effect.
